Best Books to Read to Your Toddler

 In Uncategorized

One of the best ways to encourage and inspire your child to hone their reading skills is simply by reading a book to them! There are so many different books that are not only enjoyable for your toddler, but will help them to begin learning how to read. Try reading to them just before bed for some end of day practice that will also help them get ready to fall asleep. Here are some of the best books to read to your toddler:

The Very Hungry Caterpillar (Eric Carle)

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

This book has been around forever, and it’s no wonder, as toddlers still love reading it. The cute and informative theme of a caterpillar changing to a butterfly is also a great lesson to be learned for your child. Just like the caterpillar when it comes to food, toddlers can’t seem to get enough of this timeless classic.

Freight Train (Donald Crews)

Freight Train

Do you have a son or daughter who has somehow developed a love for trains? This book will be perfect for them! There are a ton of great illustrations and informative facts about trains in this one. Your child will learn the names of each type of train car as well!

The Happy Egg (Ruth Krauss)

The Happy Egg

The best part about this book is that it tackles an interesting topic that children are bound to ask you eventually: how does a baby bird hatch out of an egg? Toddlers are inherently curious and inquisitive as they’re trying to learn as much as they can about this complex world. This book is the perfect learning experience and will help to tame their curiosity on at least one subject!

Fast Food (Saxton Freymann)

Fast Food

The author of this book has a true gift for transforming fruits and vegetables into cute objects and animals. Your child will undoubtedly love seeing these transformations in the illustrations, and may even learn about some new fruits and veggies in the process. Who knows – your child may even get excited about eating their fruits and vegetables after reading this book!

Where’s My Teddy (Jez Alborough)

Where’s My Teddy

At your child’s age, chances are they have developed a special love for one or more of their favorite toys, stuffed animals, blankets, etc. It’s also likely that they have come to misplace this favorite object at some point as well. The theme of this book centers on this exact predicament, with an actual bear losing its favorite teddy bear! This is a fun read that your toddler can relate to!
